Day 4: Potsdam

Originally we had planned to focus on the Reichstag, we will include a stop there on Day 3. Today we’ll do a half day trip outside of Berlin. We’ll arrive from Berlin at the “Kaiser Bahnhof”, the final Emperor’s personal train station, and set off through the sprawling Sanssouci gardens. Accompanied by our expert guide, we will learn all about the Prussian Kings. From the ridiculous to the impressive, from the ineffective to the mighty, we’ll learn how Prussia rose from a minor European power to the foundation of the German Empire! We’ll discover where Wilhelm II fled Germany at the end of World War One, see the impressive Venetian mosaic in the solemn Church of Peace, and find out just why Germans leave potatoes on Frederick the Great’s grave! Free late afternoon and evening in Berlin.

Day 5: Transfer to Prague after breakfast.  Prague of Kings and Nobles.

Be ready to visit another stunning capital city.  After check-in early afternoon, we’ll follow our guide, take public transportation, rub shoulders with the locals and cross the Vltava River and up the hill to the most impressive castle complex in continental Europe: Prague Castle. After our history lesson, you’ll have the opportunity to tour the massive Old Royal Palace, St. George's Basilica and St. Vitus Cathedral. Free time in the evening to meander through delightful hidden gardens back down to the Old Town.

Day 6: Jewish and Art Nouveau Prague:

Today we'll take a walking tour through the Josefov neighborhood, once the site of Prague's Jewish Ghetto — and still one of the most evocative Jewish districts in all of Europe. For a thousand years one of the leading centers of Judaism, the neighborhood is peppered with thought-provoking museums, fascinating synagogues, and an interesting cemetery. We'll check out the classy concert halls and salons of the city's Municipal House and cap off the morning with an Art Nouveau walk connecting some of Prague's slinkiest facades.

Enjoy lunch at the Farmer’s market across from the Municipal house, great options of homemade sausages, rolls and hearty country fare.

Free afternoon…if Art Nouveau intrigues you, why not visit the Mucha Museum?

Day 7: Revolutionary Prague.

We'll start the day by retracing the footsteps of Prague's celebrated Velvet Revolution, following the events of Nov. 17, 1989, through the modern city to Wenceslas Square, where thousands of Czechs held up and rattled their keys, telling their leaders: “it’s time to go home.”

Free afternoon to visit museums or do as you please. A boat ride on the Vltava River? A bike ride? Or simply strolling through Prague with its enchanting architecture.
