After our last breakfast at Hotel Blauer Bock in Munich, we took cabs to the main Hauptbahnhof, and waited for our train to Salzburg. Great scenery along the way, and in 100 minutes we arrived in Salzburg. Hopped in cabs again to the hotel. Dropped off our bags and met Gabi for our 2 hour Salzburg walking tour. Gabi is congenial, passionate and she opened our eyes to the history and beauty of Salzburg. She took us to places of interest, many relating to the filming of the sound of music, after all, this year is the 50th anniversary of the release of this family friendly movie. After our walking tour we checked-in, and walked around Salzburg. Since Paula’s suitcase had not arrived yet, I took Paula shopping for new clothes... Paula has been gracious and patient with this airline snafu. In the evening we all went to : “Der Alter Fuchs” restaurant. Reasonable prices, large portions, everyone was fully satisfied. Deer, wild boar, sausage, kraut, potato salad...real local country fare. We ended the day with a gentle walk to the river, to help our dinner settle.
We all would have enjoyed an apple strudel, but we just didn’t have room.
