Our private minibus picked us up at 8:00 a.m. at Hotel Hofwirt in Salzburg, and we drove though the Austrian countryside. The hills are definitely alive and well. Tall and gentle peaks, pine tree forests, aspens changing to golden tones, green meadows with manicured farm houses, happy cows grazing...all this against a blue sky backdrop, what a treat to drive in such beauty! We finally arrived at Cesky Krumlov (Czech Republic, on the Bohemia side), a well preserved UNESCO Heritage site dating back to the 1200’s. We had a quick lunch there and walked around the village, which in spite of being Oct. 20th, was very well attended by other groups. Then we arrived at Hotel Antik on Dlouha street in Prague, and received our room assignments. At 5:00 we met with Jana for our intro to Prague, and went on an educational and lovely walk together. Two hours later, we went to a neighborhood Czech restaurant, and again had large portions at a reasonable price: goulash and dumplings.
Delicious! Goulash and dumplings!
