NONE FOR 2009
Day one: Evening departure
from Minneapolis via Icelandair.
Day two: Transfer to the Heart of Paris. Hotel room
assignment, neighborhood orientation, and three-hour walking tour of Paris.
We’ll stroll along the Seine River to Notre Dame, Pompidou Center, L’Hotel de
Ville…
Day three: Louvre museum visit in the morning and walk along the
Champs Elysees in the afternoon, all the way to l’Arc de Triomphe. Today is a day filled with architecture,
art & history.
Day four: Early rise and shine to take the high speed
train to Spain. Take the TGV to
Hendaye, and board a Spanish train to San Sebastian. Save your travel time to journal
yesterday’s adventures, catch up on your rest, delight in the scenery. Arrive in San Sebastian late afternoon.
Neighborhood orientation. Heart of the
city walk.
Day five:
Visit
of downtown. Rub shoulders with the
locals, practice your Spanish, enjoy the colorful surroundings. Afternoon hike to the hilltops for a scenic
view of the harbor, and part of the afternoon at the beach. What a fun day!
Day six: Time to leave the ocean and the charming
resort town of San Sebastian, to move inland to Madrid. Arrival in the afternoon at Puerta del Sol,
the bustling city center & home base for the next few days. Stroll to Plaza Mayor, a grand square where
every sort of human drama has taken place- trails of faith, public burnings
of heretics, royal marriages, bullfights and more…
Day seven: In depth exploration of Madrid’s major landmarks plus
Prado museum visit. Optional evening by night with Madrid Vision.
Day eight: Another day in the
Hispanic Capital. Visit of Palazzo
Real: an 18th century masterpiece.
The palace is dripping with porcelain, jeweled clocks, amazing ceiling
frescos. This Baroque palace has more
than 2800 rooms… Don’t get lost. Visit of San Isidro Church late afternoon.
Day nine: Optional adventure to Toledo. Evening
return to Madrid in time to catch the night train back to Paris.
Day ten: Arrive in Paris in the morning. Orsay museum visit. Afternoon at Painters’
Square in the Montmartre area. Evening at the Eiffel Tower. Watch Paris
twinkle under the night skies.
Day eleven: Adios Espana, au revoir Paris…Buenos dias Minneapolis!
