Day one: Departure from Minneapolis/ St-Paul
for the City of Lights.
Day two: Morning arrival in Paris at mid-day. Transfer from the airport to downtown Paris in the 12th
district. Neighborhood orientation, morning market and leisurely walk along
the Seine River with visit of Notre Dame, overview of Hotel de Ville &
the Pompidou Center.
Day three: Day trip to the village of Giverny to visit
Claude Monet’s home & gardens. Eiffel Tower visit at the end of the
day. Whether you climb the stairs to
first floor, or ride the elevator to the top,
the view will take your breath away.
Dress warm, as it is windy up there, and make sure to secure your
beret, so it doesn’t fly away.
Day four: Flea markets & antique shops of Paris all day. This is your chance to look for
treasures. Take your time, this is
what you came for. If you are shopping for large pieces, please make your own
shipping arrangements.
Day five: We can’t leave Paris without a Louvre Museum visit. If you have seen the Louvre before, use your morning as you please.
Late afternoon departure for the countryside.
Day six: A day to remember as we go to Epinal in the
Vosges Mountains to visit the American Cemetery. Everyone has visited the Normandy beaches,
but few have been at this destination.
Lunch time in Riquewihr, small village nestled in the vineyards of Alsace.
Late afternoon visit of the heart of Colmar with its timber framed homes,
bold colored stuccos & medieval cuteness.
Day seven: Today is a day dedicated to small towns and
villages of the Doubs region of Franche-Comte. Mystery tour from morning to late
afternoon. Evening return to home base
in Besancon, and guided walking tour of this former Roman outpost.
Day eight: Rise & shine bright and early as today we’re going to one of
the largest “attic cleaning/estate sale” of the area, in the village of
Villersexel, a village of 1500 that today will be exploding with people from
everywhere trying to sell their treasures.
Evening return to Paris via the high
speed train; cruise on the Seine
River by night.
Day nine: Time for one last café au lait and croissant in Paris. Smell,
taste & enjoy. Au revoir!
