10-Day Austria-Germany adventure
None scheduled 2009
Day one: Our
adventure begins as we board an overnight flight via Icelandair to Frankfurt,
Germany. In flight services include complimentary meals and a movie.
Day two: We’ll land
in Iceland early in the morning, and change planes. After a short stretch break at Keflavik
airport, we’ll continue our journey.
At mid-day we’ll arrive in Frankfurt and connect with our bus driver
and board our private coach bus.
We’ll then proceed Southward to Bavaria. We’ll follow the “Romantic Road” and arrive
late afternoon in Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
Rothenburg is without a doubt one of Europe’s most beautiful medieval
walled city. We’ll have dinner
together and in the evening, we’ll stroll through the handsome half-timbered
buildings, the narrow winding cobble streets, before we catch up on our rest.
Day three: This
morning we’ll drive to Munich. En
route, we’ll stop in Dachau to visit the concentration camp memorial, built
by the Naziz in 1933- a tragic reminder of man’s inhumanity. Afternoon walking tour of Munich with stops
at the Rathaus, and its Glockenspiel on Marienplatz. After our tour we’ll
spend the evening at the Hofbrauhaus: the most famous beer garden in the
world, as dinner is on your own. If
you prefer a more subdued evening with less “umpa” music, Munich is filled
with little sidewalk cafes that will offer the atmosphere you are looking
for.
Day four: We’ll go
through the rolling countryside to visit Neuschwanstein: one of King Ludwig
II’s castles.
This romantic structure inspired Disney’s Cinderella castle, and is one
of Bavaria’s popular landmarks.
Day five: Time to
head to Vienna to immerse ourselves in the capital of music of the
world. Stop in Salzkammergut and Linz
along the way. Evening walking tour of
Vienna.
Day six: Free day
in Vienna. Today you can walk at your own pace: visit St-Stephen cathedral,
the museum district or the Hofburg palace…the choice is yours. An evening
concert is possible if Mozart or Strauss are on your list of favorites.
Enjoy!
Day seven: Travel
to Salzburg, home of Mozart,
And the setting of the popular musical “The Sound Of Music”. We’ll
spend the afternoon in town with a delightful walking tour of the handsome city
center. Visit of its squares, immense cathedral, Mirabell Gardens and
Getreidegasse: the city’s quaint shopping center.
Day eight: Are you
ready for our morning “Sound Of Music Tour”…on bicycles? If pedaling is not one of your favorite
things, maybe walking through the hills to make sure they’re still alive will
do. After the bicycle tour, the rest of the day is free for you to do as you
please.
Day nine: Today is
an open day for you to enjoy alone or in small groups. Ask us for a list of
options. Evening farewell dinner
together to celebrate the close of our alpine adventure.
Day ten: After
breakfast, we’ll head to Munich to catch our afternoon flight. Return home
with delightful memories of castles, alpine landscapes, enchanting cities and
a wealth of new friends.
“So long, good bye, aufwiedershen, adieu…” und “Danke schon”.
